Audet & Knight worked on the sheet pile and support project for the P-19530 culvert on Grand Lac Victoria in the La Vérendrye Wildlife Reserve in July 2020.

By leveraging its expertise, Audet & Knight carried out a critical project that allowed its client to implement the successful installation of a prefabricated culvert. The site team had to adapt quickly to install 25-to-50-foot sheet pile in a soil composed of liquefiable clay.

To allow the excavation of the soil, the sheet pile was first installed near the culvert. Next, beams and an intermediary were installed to take up the thrust loads from the soil. To ensure that the appropriate material was planted for the type of soil surrounding the culvert, the geotechnical constraints were calculated by Audet & Knight’s project managers, using a specialized software program.
