Geneviève Ste-Marie, Payroll Manager at Audet & Knight
What brought you to work at Audet & Knight as a payroll manager?
I started my career at Audet & Knight as a receptionist. I was told by a friend of mine that the company was seeking to fill that position. I brought my resume and got hired in May 2009. As early as the following August, I started working in accounts payable, as well as reception. I then worked in accounts payable and payroll for a while. Eventually I decided to focus exclusively on payroll.
What are your main responsibilities?
Payroll takes up most of my time. I help the finance director and controller with government remittances and tax statements. In addition of doing some monthly reports, making withdrawals from the group RRSP, and following up on payments for group insurance, I help out with other human resources tasks.
What do you like best about your job?
It is the fact that there are constant challenges. We must alway pay attention to new developments and particularities. I also enjoy the great team that I have the opportunity to work with.
Tell us about an achievement you are particularly proud of?
I am proud of the moment when we reached the 200-employee mark, whereas we were only processing about 60 paychecks at the very beginning. I am proud that I was able to keep pace with the company’s growth and that I was able to consistently adapt.
What do you do in your spare time?
In my spare time, I enjoy listening to music, watching movies, reading, and traveling. I also enjoy the outdoors, working out and spending time with my family and friends.
